In addition to FSC®-certified wood, we also process plantation teak from Asia; this comes from commercially established state forestry plantations.
Teak plantations of considerable size and age are currently found only on the island of Java. These commercial forests were established in 1880 and have been managed since then by the state-owned company PT. Perhutani. PT. Perhutani controls the felling of timber in the Indonesian plantations and thus ensures sustainable management.
In addition, the European Timber Regulation (EUTR) is part of the European Union’s action plan on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT). The FLEGT law was created in 2003 to combat illegal logging and trade in illegal timber.
Combating this illegal trade and promoting legal trade therefore contribute to sustainable forestry and social development in the region. Important tools in the FLEGT Action Plan are proof of legality for harvested timber and Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPA) between the EU and the governments of producing countries.
Traditional Teak has established the entire Chain of Custody and has all the necessary documents to guarantee the origin of the wood.
